Meet the Assistant Principal

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Kyrene de la Esperanza Elementary School.  I am truly honored to accept this new role.  I look forward to joining the school family and supporting Mrs. Payne in continuing to grow this amazing school community.

I am originally from northern Illinois but am relocating from Baltimore, Maryland and have spent a majority of my career in Baltimore City Public Schools. I have held a variety of roles which include teaching Literacy ranging from grades 1st-4th, serving as a school-wide Reading Specialist, and last year as Assistant Principal. I have a Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University and have my Bachelor's Degree in Education Policy from American University. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.

My decision to become an administrator came from my desire to make a positive impact on an entire school community.  As the Assistant Principal, I will work diligently with Mrs. Payne, our faculty, staff, and community to carry out the vision and mission of Kyrene de la Esperanza.  This role will provide me the chance to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to our students' growth and learning that takes place in the classroom. I am committed to continuous professional growth and ensuring educational equity and access for all of our students. My passion in education stems from supporting students with working towards their goals and the celebration that happens when they reach them.

The partnership between home and school should inspire confidence in students to use their powers to shape their future and the future of our community and world. During the course of the year, it is my hope that we will work together to provide our students the best opportunities. As Assistant Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your conversation and collaboration throughout this year.  I look forward to celebrating our collective successes throughout the school year.
